KEI System Co. Ltd. (KEI) and Eco Marine Power Co. Ltd. are pleased to announce that they have now completed a specifications review and will continue the development of the computer control design for the Aquarius System. This development work will be undertaken jointly by KEI and EMP and it is expected a prototype version of the control system will be ready for testing during 2012.

KEI System has established a reputation for being able to develop innovative computer control systems for the shipping industry and much of the development of the Aquarius control system will be carried out at the KEI R&D facilities in Osaka, Japan.

The Eco Marine Power Aquarius System will allow ships to utilise wind power and solar energy in order to reduce fuel consumption and lower noxious gas emissions. In addition, ship owners and operators will be able to reduce the carbon footprint of their fleet and employ the Aquarius System on a variety of ships and vessels.

The Aquarius System is being designed so that it will require little attention from the ships crew, will be relatively easy to install and offer an attractive ROI (Return on Investment) for shipping companies. The system will utilize solar modules and rigid sails connected to a central control and monitoring system.
