Harnessing Solar & Wind Power for Cleaner Shipping
Around 90% of world trade (by volume) is carried by international shipping and it is an essential part of the modern world economy.
However ships are also responsible for the release of a range of noxious gases and carbon dioxide, therefore the International Maritime Organization (IMO) is working with the shipping industry to reduce these emissions and make shipping more environmentally friendly.
At Eco Marine Power we are focused on helping to make 'Green Shipping' a reality via our unique design concepts and innovative technology.
Around 200 years ago ocean going sailing ships were reaching speeds of 16 knots or more and carrying trade across the globe. Best of all they released no harmful emissions and could cross the globe without using a drop of oil.
But since then, world shipping has strayed off the green path and the benefits of using wind power on-board large ships was forgotten.
Our vision is to create a sustainable future for shipping where our trade and transport routes will once again see ships utilise wind power but also harness the power of the sun via solar modules.
Our revolutionary Aquarius MRE System for example uses the EMP designed EnergySail as a renewable energy collector. Not only will a solution like the Aquarius MRE System reduce emissions, but it will also save ship owners and shipping companies money by reducing fuel costs.
The system can also help to reduce fuel costs & lower emissions even when a ship is in port or at anchor.
Our Aquarius MRE System will help shipping move towards a more sustainable future, one in which ships of all sizes tap into the clean energy of the sun & wind!
